Brooklyn is a stretch jersey fabric that is perfect for making knit garments and accessories. Brooklyn is a Cotton/Lycra blend, the Lycra in the fabric provides excellent recovery when the knit is stretched around the body; it also makes wearing tight garments very comfortable. Brooklyn is perfect for apparel, tops, dresses, leggings, baby clothes and wraps.
TECHNICAL INFORMATION
Brooklyn is a lightweight single jersey fabric. The Lycra gives the fabric a wonderful stretch and then a real ping back into shape. Being a jersey knit most of the stretch is across the fabric (weft) however with the Lycra it does have a two way stretch. Jersey being a stretch fabric means that it can shrink when relaxed and grow when under tension. This means that if you lay the fabric down and cut a pattern piece out, it will then pull away from the cut lines and tighten up. Lycra in the knit provides stability to the fabric and it will often stretch back when sewn.
Each roll of fabric can have subtle variation in appearance and print translation. Natural fabrics may contain imperfections such as slubbing and yarn variation; These are characteristic of fibres derived from seeds and plants.
CARE
Cold delicate machine wash individually or with like textiles, turn inside out to protect print, allow fabric to move freely in the washing machine, do not soak, wring or bleach. Line dry in shade, on hanger, or flat. Cool Iron. For prints featuring large areas of dark solid colours, dresses and large tees handwash is recommended.

Brooklyn can shrink up to 3% on the warp and weft of the fabric.
